The Goldcrest Ensemble
An evening of French Music, Cheese & Wine
What could be better on a chilly November evening than listening to a lovely programme of French music, while enjoying delicious French wine and cheese? The Goldcrest Ensemble play pieces ranging from Debussy’s wonderful trio for harp, flute and viola, to Saint-Saëns’ virtuosic Fantaisie for Violin and harp, played by Kenneth Sillito, one of the country’s leading violinists. With Miriam Keogh’s golden harp at the centre of it all, it promises to be a wonderful evening in every way. And as Friday 11th November is Armistice Day, there will be a real rarity from World War One – Noël, a tiny piece by French composer Fernand Halphen , written by him at the Western Front and played there on Christmas Day 1914 – the day of the impromptu armistice between the opposing troops.
A programme of French music with works by Debussy, Ibert and Saint-Saëns served alongside delicious French Cheese and Wine*. Perfect to share or simply devour yourself!
