We are delighted to announce that we’ve been awarded £198K from the Cultural Recovery Fund!

We are delighted to have been awarded £198,000 as part of the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF) to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure they have a sustainable future, the Culture Secretary has announced today.

Red Rose Chain is one of 1,385 cultural and creative organisations across the country receiving urgently needed support. £257 million of investment has been announced today as part of the very first round of the Culture Recovery Fund grants programme being administered by Arts Council England. Further rounds of funding in the cultural and heritage sector are due to be announced over the coming weeks.

For over 20 years, we have put inclusion, accessibility and reaching out to the disenfranchised at the centre of our work. Our work is celebrated for our exciting community theatre programme, including the community theatre company ‘ACT’ and two inclusive youth theatres, which provide a refuge and voice to children and young adults with disabilities and learning difficulties. This funding will support our return to live performance in 2021 for our renowned outdoor Shakespeare event, Theatre in the Forest, which embarks on a new chapter with a new venue to be announced on 31st October.

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said:

“This funding is a vital boost for the theatres, music venues, museums and cultural organisations that form the soul of our nation. It will protect these special places, save jobs and help the culture sector’s recovery.

“These places and projects are cultural beacons the length and breadth of the country. This unprecedented investment in the arts is proof this government is here for culture, with further support to come in the days and weeks ahead so that the culture sector can bounce back strongly.”

Red Rose Chain’s Artistic Director, Joanna Carrick, said:

“This fund is a major boost for Red Rose Chain at a very challenging time. We are delighted that the Arts Council and the Government have recognised the importance of our work, particularly with the local community. Throughout the pandemic, we have continued to support our participants and freelancers. This funding, together with the amazing generosity of our audiences, secures our ongoing digital programme and our return to live theatre with Theatre in the Forest in 2021.”
