Heritage Open Days Weekend

Heritage Open Days Weekend

Gippeswyk Hall & The Avenue Theatre
Gippeswyk Avenue
Ipswich, IP2 9AF

Sat 14th and Sun 15th Sept 10am-4pm
FREE – no booking necessary

The National Lottery Heritage Fund supported us in our quest for a new venue behind the grade II* listed Tudor Gippeswyk Hall.

You are invited to step into our leading arts and heritage venue for an immersive theatrical experience which combines exciting moments of real local history with a guided tour of the building. You will be taken back in time to the Zeppelin bombings of WWI, a bustling Tudor Tavern and the Witch trials of Matthew Hopkins – all led by our youth theatre.

Tea and cake is available from the café. On both days you will be able to see Em, a Tudor player and experience music, song and dance as you may have heard it in 16th century Ipswich.

It’s also a great way to find out more about our work and what exciting events we have planned this autumn/winter at the theatre (hint: comedy, Live music, The Magic Fishbone!)
