THE TEMPEST

This summer, prepare to be spellbound by Shakespeare’s supernatural spectacular, The Tempest!  Featuring the return of crowd-favourite and Theatre in the Forest royalty (King Lear) Edward Day, Joanna Carrick’s adaptation will make wizards of you all whether you’re new to Shakespeare or a seasoned fan. Outdoors and under the stars, it’s Shakespeare with a festival feel!


Dates and times

26 JULY – 28 AUGUST
Tues – Sat at 7:30 pm – 9:50 pm (including 20 min interval)
Sat matinees at 2 pm – 4:20 pm (including 20 min interval)
Extra show on Sun 28 August at 7:30pm

Gates open 90 mins before each show, arrive early to enjoy the pre-theatre atmosphere!

Jimmy’s Farm have put new gravel paths in this year, both within the space as well as leading up to it. We’ve also moved the entrance to try and make the space more accessible in relation to the car park.

Jimmy’s Farm have also transformed the space where the huts stand, to create a lovely Coffee Cabin so there’s even more to enjoy this year.

Jimmy’s Farm offer a delicious pre-theatre dinner option, dine in their beautiful barn restaurant before our evening show begins – dates/times for 2016 coming soon.

Seats will be reserved for those enjoying pre-theatre dinner so there’s no need to rush!

There is ample free parking on site at Jimmy’s Farm. The farm is only 7 minutes away from Ipswich Train station and is therefore a very reasonably priced taxi ride.

Disabled parking will be available for those with restricted access. Please let our Box Office team know about any accessibility needs you or your party member has in advance, during your booking.

Why not make a day of it? Jimmy’s Farm has loads of family-friendly activities to get stuck into and things to explore! The gates for Theatre In The Forest open at 6pm and you are welcome to check out the animals before the performance. For entry before 6pm normal charges will apply.

In the 16 years of Theatre in the Forest we’ve only ever had to cancel a handful of performances due to extreme weather; we carry on in rain and we also provide basic ponchos to keep you dry –  this is to substitute the use of umbrellas within the space – but please feel free to also bring your own waterproofs.

We still welcome party bookings and would be delighted if you would like to bring a group of friends or relatives. We love Birthday bookings too, and have surprised lots of audience members over the years with a special treat from the cast on the special day!
