This year, Red Rose Chain’s much loved annual summer Shakespeare event happened with a difference – Theatre in the Forest at Home!
Our special live stream of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night on 1st August was such a huge hit that we are giving you access to Twelfth Night at Home for the WHOLE OF AUGUST! So set up your laptop and a picnic, gather your family together for a garden party and settle in for Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night as you have never seen it before!!
Shipwrecked on the Island of Illyria, twins Viola and Sebastian are separated, each assuming that the other is drowned. When Viola disguises herself as a boy to work for the Count Orsino, a hilarious comedy of mistaken identity and misunderstandings unfolds, full of passion, revenge and yellow stockings!
Tickets are priced from £10 – £100 and grants one device access to the recordings of Twelfth Night at Home AND the pre-show event, with special appearances from the cast of Twelfth Night and our incredible community participants. We’re asking audiences to give what they can, especially if there are a number of you watching. Your ticket money will help secure Red Rose Chain’s future and support us to continue our vital work in our community with disadvantaged and disabled young people and adults. There is also the option to add a further donation on top of this for those who are able to give a little more.
We also have digital programmes to purchase for just £2!
Ticket holders will be emailed the links to the pre-show and Twelfth Night (and programme if purchased) to access via YouTube.

£10 ticket for Theatre in the Forest at Home fundraiser – Thank you!
A £10 donation pays for a member of our community company ‘ACT’ to have a shared lunch and participate in a drama workshop. This small opportunity could spark a lifelong friendship or be the confidence boost someone desperately needs.
£25 ticket for Theatre in the Forest at Home fundraiser – Amazing!
£25 covers the cost for a standard theatre ticket - providing an experience that a young refugee or a young person with a disability might not have access to otherwise. One trip to the theatre could completely change the way a person sees the world!
£50 ticket for Theatre in the Forest at Home fundraiser – Yippee!
£50 pays for one young person to take part in the Chainer’s Youth Theatre for a term and take part in our amazing volunteering programme. We know from experience that it isn’t just a bit of extra-curricular fun; our youth projects confront fears and tackle issues in a safe, supportive environment equipping young people with the life skills to cope with the emotional rollercoaster of adolescence.
£100 ticket for Theatre in the Forest fundraiser – Awesome!
£100 could pay for a family to participate in our under 5s storytelling project. This is an incredible project that allows the opportunity for pre-schoolers and their families to share an immersive and engaging experience, strengthening trusting relationships, building communication skills and igniting the imagination – all so critical for early child development!
Can you donate more than that for your ticket? Phenomenal!
Wow! We absolutely depend on generous people like you! We’re really proud of the community groups we’ve established but we know there’s still so much more left to do. With your amazing support our next step will be to establish two brand new theatre groups for young people under 12 who have learning difficulties and disabilities. The more support we recieve the more lives we can transform! Please pledge your amount here:
(PLEASE NOTE: Donations of less than £10 will not qualify for a ticket to our online Theatre in the Forest event)
Theatre in the Forest is famed for making Shakespeare accessible and fun for all, staying true to the text while injecting high energy, dance, music, colour and magic. Each year, we welcome 10,000 audience members to our woodland auditorium throughout July/August making it the largest outdoor family theatre event in the region.
This year due to government restrictions, this year’s event is happening with a difference – Theatre in the Forest at Home! We recommend (although not essential!) watching Twelfth Night with a picnic and tuning in for our pre-show to get the full Theatre in the Forest experience from the comfort of your own home!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
