Gold Chainers lockdown

The Gold Chainers

The Nightingale in Lockdown!

The Gold Chainers is our inclusive youth theatre for young people with learning difficulties, developing their skills through pioneering accessible theatre projects.

The Gold Chainers were 3 days away from opening their play THE NIGHTINGALE at The Avenue Theatre before we went into lockdown in March 2020. But the Gold Chainers have continued to work on the production throughout lockdown, making it even bigger and better for when it returns when we re-open!!

Some of the Gold Chainers also virtually volunteered as part of THEATRE IN THE FOREST AT HOME, welcoming our audience during the pre-show, as well as talking about the work they have been creating and what being part of there Gold Chainers means to them!

The Gold Chainers have been creating amazing artwork for THE NIGHTINGALE! They have created flowers and animals for the set design which is interactive for audiences of young people with disabilities.

They have also worked on their characters, producing amazing posters and storybooks of the play!

The Gold Chainers also come together online for zoom sessions! They worked on ALICE IN WONDERLAND, looking at the original books written by Lewis Carroll and worked with actors from our show to create music and dances – with some of their moves making it into the choreography of ‘Where Did You Get That Hat’ in the show!!
